Do higher-watt solar panels matter much?

Trying to decide between 100W and 200W solar options for an outdoor workstation. Twice the wattage sounds good, but does it really double the performance, or is it overkill for light use?

If you mostly need to power a laptop, phone, or basic gear, 100W is usually plenty—for light use, 200W is overkill and won’t truly double the practical output since small devices don’t draw that much. But if you want room for clouds, extra gadgets, or future upgrades, going 200W adds flexibility.

You’ll only get double the wattage in ideal conditions, but real-world solar panel output depends a lot on weather, angle, and equipment efficiency—so 200W is useful for cloudy days, charging bigger devices, or adding a backup battery. For basic laptop and phone use, 100W is usually enough unless you want extra power for shade or future upgrades

For light use, 100W is usually sufficient; 200W would charge faster but might be more than you actually need.
